For editors · Operating guide

Edit. Get paid.
No clients, ever.

Muffer brings the work to you as a job card. You edit, you submit, you get paid on a fixed schedule. This guide walks the whole thing in a couple of minutes, so everything is answered up front, in plain language.

90 seconds: how one job flows. Prefer to read? Everything in the video is also written on the next cards.

01 · The honest part

You'll never chase
a client again.

No pitching. No sales calls. No “just following up on that invoice.” Muffer holds the client relationship; you only ever touch the edit. Work shows up, you do it well, you move on.

  • No client calls or meetings
  • No quoting, no negotiating, no chasing payment
  • Every job arrives briefed, scoped, and priced
02 · How a job works

One card. Start to paid.

A job card lands on WhatsApp with the deliverable, deadline, payout, brief and assets. You reply START (begin now), LOCKED (accepted, with your ETA) or PASS (skip it, no penalty).

💸Reply window is short — projects move fast. If you don't respond, the card may be reassigned. Raise blockers before you accept, not after.
03 · What you earn

There's no “rate
per minute.” Here's why.

It's the first thing editors ask, and it's the wrong question. A 20-second ad and a 20-minute podcast aren't the same work, so a flat per-minute rate would shortchange you on the hard jobs. Pay tracks the actual job — complexity, length, turnaround, format — and every card shows its number before you accept.

What an active editor makes
₹8,000–18,000 / month
Across 8–12 cards a month, before bonuses. Consistent top-tier editors cross ₹1,00,000 a month — earned over time, never a starting number.
What a card pays

Reels & Shorts (≤90s): ₹450–800 · motion-heavy / pro ₹900–1,400. Long-form (8–12 min): ₹2,500–7,500. Rush jobs carry a bonus on top.

Payout = your base rate × the job's complexity, shown on the card before you accept.

Best-effort quota match

Tell us the monthly number you're aiming for and we route work to help fill it on a best-effort basis — no guarantees, but reliable editors get first pick of the best cards. Pick or pass, your hours, your own edit business without the clients or the dry months.

04 · When you're paid

Twice a month.
The 15th & month-end.

Payouts run on fixed dates — the 15th and the last working day of every month, by NEFT bank transfer. Clear QC before a cutoff and you're in that run; clear it after, and you roll to the next one. No invoices to raise, no chasing.

A payout is released when all four are true
  • Final files delivered in full — correct formats, naming, folders
  • QC cleared — no active revision or dispute on the delivery
  • KYC & bank details on file with Muffer
  • Before the cycle cutoff — later submissions roll to the next date
05 · How you grow

Better work unlocks
bigger work.

Score, on-time delivery and volume move you up a tier automatically. Higher tiers get more cards, higher-complexity briefs, and a higher pay range. It's a ramp you earn — not a number we hand out.

Best editors, biggest briefs.

up to ~₹48K / cycle
💸Still paid the same way — 15th & month-end — just bigger, better cards as you climb.
06 · How work is judged

A real editor reviews.
Not a bot.

Every delivery is reviewed by a senior editor against a clear rubric. Your score is feedback you can act on, and it's what grows your allotment — strong work today is more and better work tomorrow.

  • Self-reliance — correct exports first time, minimal back-and-forth
  • Guideline accuracy — captions, brand, duration, no typos
  • A/V quality — clean audio, transitions, grade, export
07 · Scope & revisions

What's in, what's extra,
what's on you.

Revisions inside the brief are part of the job. New direction after approval is a fresh card — Muffer handles that conversation with the client. Misses that are your error, you fix free.

Always included
  • Pacing & clean trims
  • Standard captions
  • Audio cleanup
  • Relevant B-roll
  • Basic zooms/transitions
New card
  • New direction post-approval
  • New style mid-project
  • New assets after start
  • Extra format versions
On you, no extra pay
  • Typos & text errors
  • Wrong format/ratio
  • Missed brief points
  • Incomplete exports
08 · If a job is cancelled

You're not left
holding the work.

If a client cancels mid-project, you're paid proportional to the progress you've made at the point of cancellation, subject to review. The further along, the more you keep.

The fair-play line

This protection covers client-side cancellations. It doesn't apply where the cancellation comes from a quality failure or policy breach on your end. Specifics are governed by your partner agreement.

09 · What we expect

Getting in is fast.
Staying in is earned.

The bar isn't perfection — it's communication. Read the brief before accepting, share an ETA, flag blockers early, and never go silent. That alone puts you ahead of most.

  • Only accept work you can deliver to brief
  • Flag problems the moment you see them — not at the deadline
  • Stay responsive to your Buddy through the job
  • Ghosting an accepted card can pause your allotment
10 · The fine print

Said once, clearly.

Nothing buried. The few rules that protect the clients you work for:

  • Portfolio: yes, with a quick approval. Ask your Buddy and most work can go in your reel — some is under client confidentiality.
  • Ownership. Deliverables belong to the client once paid, unless your agreement says otherwise.
  • Confidentiality. Briefs, assets and unreleased work stay private — no third parties.
  • Your tooling. Premium stock and AI subscriptions are yours to maintain; not reimbursed.
11 · Quick questions

The stuff you're
probably wondering.

It ramps with you. New partners start on a trial flow and a few cards; as your score and reliability hold, your allotment grows. We pace intake to real client demand so active editors actually get work, not an empty queue.

Your Buddy — one assigned Muffer contact on WhatsApp for everything: brief questions, asset issues, payout queries, escalations. You never deal with the client directly.

Tools, subscriptions and software are your cost of operating as a creative professional — same as a designer paying for Adobe. At the volume we target, that cost gets covered many times over each month. We can't centrally manage subscriptions across every partner without it becoming a compliance and access mess. This is your side of the business.

Top-tier editors do, but it's earned: more approved jobs, higher complexity, consistent on-time delivery and QC scores. It's the top of the ramp, not a starting number. Most build toward it.

After your trial sample is submitted and reviewed. Submit it quickly and cleanly and you move fastest — the bottleneck is almost always a half-finished sample, not us.

Straight to your bank account by NEFT, once your KYC and bank details are on file. No UPI, no wallets, no points — a clean bank transfer on the 15th and the last working day of the month.

12 · Bring a friend

Know an editor
who'd be good?

Good editors know good editors. Bring one along before you start — you both win. They skip the cold start, and you earn a referral bonus once they're properly up and running.

Referral bonus
₹2,000 / editor you bring
Paid once your referral completes their first 30 days and 10 approved jobs. Real, client-paid work only — so it stays fair for everyone.

Tick yes and we'll hand you a ready-to-forward WhatsApp message at the end — with your referral ID built in, so every editor you bring is tracked to you.

13 · Start

You're basically
already in.

Here's the shape of it: no clients, a fixed pay schedule, and a ramp you earn — your hours, your terms. One short trial sample is all that stands between you and your first card.

Just edit — we handle the clients
Paid the 15th & month-end, every month
Pick or pass — you're your own boss
